卢森堡王室婚礼将举行

Preparations are underway for the wedding of Luxembourg’s Crown Prince Guillaume to Belgium’s Countess Stephanie de Lannoy. The royal occasion on October 20th is eagerly being anticipated - with observers saying the couple appear to be well matched.

Like most ordinary Luxembourgers, they will marry in City Hall, but unlike most common folk, their nuptials will also be celebrated at the Cathedral, and they will host their wedding reception in a palace.

Prince Guillaume was born on November 11th in 1981 to the Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa.

His fiancee, Countess Stephanie de Lannoy, comes from the north of Belgium. Born on February 18 1984, she belongs to old Belgian aristocracy.

Not many people in Luxembourg have met Stephanie de Lannoy yet, so the country is curious to find out more about their future Grand Duchess.

One person that has spent time with the couple is royal expert Pierre Dillenburg.

Pierre Dillenburg, royal expert, said,"I had the privilege to meet them shortly after national day and meet Stephanie de Lannoy. I’ve known the crown prince for a long time. He’s a really charismatic young man. He’s very comfortable in his own skin, charming. And I have to say that his fiance really is the perfect match. They’re the same kind of people. She has considerable intellectual baggage and with that talent she will be able to learn our language very quickly - which is really important in a small country like ours, where keeping up with traditions is essential."

People from Luxembourg will be able to witness when the royal couple says "yes", as the ceremony will be broadcast live and shown on public viewing screens across the city.

In the evening of the wedding, a big fireworks display and numerous live music gigs will end the celebrations.
