The fallout of the New Zealand milk powder scandal has reached Shanghai. The city’s quality supervision department has sealed all the raw material and end products of Dumex Formula milk powder.

The department also required the company to launch a recall process and inform its dealers. It says more than 420 tons of botulism-tainted Dumex Milk Powder have flowed into the market. The products in question have been pulled from the shelves in Shanghai.

On Sunday, the maker of Karicare infant formula issued a recall of three batches from the New Zealand market -- two batches of Karicare Infant Formula Stage One and one batch of Karicare Gold plus Follow On Formula Stage Two.

Manufacturer Nutricia said safety of its customers is the company’s primary concern. China’s quality supervision agency say they’ve received the announcement, and passed the warning on to consumers.
