俄罗斯人抢购进口产品

2014-12-19来源:和谐英语

The rouble turmoil has greatly impacted consumption in Russia. Residents in Moscow are rushing to buy imported and electronic products while many others wait in lines to buy foreign currencies.

The rouble has lost 50 percent so far this year, which has led to price hikes on a variety of goods, especially imported and electronic products. In the past week alone, there has been a rush across Russia on such goods as electrical appliances, TV sets and mobile phones.

"I bought a smart phone and many electric appliances. I bought a washing machine not long ago, it was 30 thousand roubles then, and now the price is 38 thousand," said a Moscow citizen.

Besides shops, forex posts are also crowded. Outside many posts in Moscow, there are long lines of people waiting to buy foreign currencies.

"I’m very worried about the dump of the rouble, our salaries are settled in roubles instead of US dollars. It’s dreadful to think about it," said a Moscow citizen.

In response, many foreign companies temporarily stopped business to change the price tags on their products. On Tuesday, technology giant Apple halted online sales of its products in Russia.
