Tourists and travellers have quite a lot of choices when it comes to deciding places to visit during the seven-day National Day holiday. Beijing’s Palace Museum, otherwise known as the Forbidden City, has always been a good option.

Large slow moving crowds, heading slowly towards the gate of the Palace Museum. Also known as the Forbidden City, it has been the home of Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. And a world famous tourist destination as well.

Massive numbers of tourists come to visit the Palace Museum every day. And during the Golden Week Holiday, the flow of tourists is extremely huge. According to the statistics, on October the 2nd, the total volume of tourists has reached to 175,000.

The ancient architecture and imperial treasures here have always attracted visitors from home and abroad. The massive swarm is impressive, but it also brings with it a fair share of inconvenience.

Museum authorities on their part have taken measures to tackle the congestion, with a set of contingency plans to improve the service system.

Some say the tourism peak during this year’s National Day holiday is partially due to China’s first tourism law, which was implemented on October the 1st. Since the new tourism law forbids additional fees and forced goods purchases arranged by travel agencies, overseas tour package prices gave gone up. So, many are choosing to take cheaper options within China. In this case, managing huge crowds in tourist sites across the country might just become a long term task.
