中国设计师将迷你阁楼变成舒适空间
An exhibition in Beijing featuring creative designs in super small apartments is currently in full swing. Twelve interior designers from across China are showcasing their pint-sized home ideas, which are energy efficient to boot.
The 12 designers each work with a mini loft space to create a comfortable living and working environment for young people who have come to realize their dream in the big city. But they only have a budget of just 1,000 yuan per square metre for this 27 square metre loft.
"I feel most of a connection to the kitchen design because I've been living under the stairs in a space just about the size of this for five years. So here I've used the space under the staircase to create a kitchen and I've add a fringed curtain to make it more homely," said designer Liang Jianguo.
Although small, this loft has everything you need for comfortable living that can maximise space. And the designers have taken care to plan even the finest detail.
"People say that the stairs are easy to climb and that’s because they are ergonomically designed to fit with the fast pace of young people’s lives," said designer Lai Yanan.
Some designers have taken traditional Chinese architecture as their inspiration to create a Zen but also modern look.
Unlike previous events, the sample loft including the furnishings will be introduced to the retail market.
"Beijing offers a fast-pass for designers. Here they can get patterns for their designs within two weeks, which shows real respect for their work," said Hao Liping of Beijing Home Industry Association.
The 12 spaces all convey one common concept: to replace luxury with simple and more functional designs.
