A Russian spacecraft carrying three astronauts has docked at the International Space Station. The Soyuz spacecraft arrived on Tuesday after about six and a half hours' journey, after blasting off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
On board were Yuri Malenchenko of Russia, Timothy Kopra of the United States and Timothy Peake of Britain. Peake, a 43-year-old former army helicopter pilot, is the first Briton to visit the International Space Station.
The trio will spend six months at the space station. During this time, they will carry out over 50 experiments involving medicine, ecology and astrophysics.
