Chinese tour companies have put on hold trips to Vietnam on the Chinese government’s travel warning. This comes as unrest in Vietnam has put pressure on bilateral relations. China is Vietnam’s biggest source of tourists -- almost 2 million Chinese travellers visited the country last year. Let’s show you how China’s travel industry is being affected.

China’s travel warning against travel to Vietnam means travel agencies are asking tourists to drop their plans to travel to the region. C-trip and China International Travel Service, the country’s top travel agency, are recalling the packages they’ve sold.

In Huai An city in Jiangsu Province, travel to Vietnam dropped by 40 percent from the beginning of this year. And recently the number of cancellations has shot up.

In South China’s Guangzhou, most travel agencies have changed their tour routes, and most tourists are happy to accept it.

Vietnam’s unrest also affects South East Asian package tours. The political turmoil in Thailand, and the Malaysia Airline incident have all dealt a blow to regional tourism.
