【参考解析】上面两句话答案要求把or改为and。这种改法是正确的。但是命题者却犯了一个错误。这里实际上还要把your去掉。《牛津英语用法指南》第三版433.3节上说：

Thank you for / Thanks for 后面可以跟-ing 形式。不能也没必要用物主代词。

—Thank you for coming.  谢谢你的光临。

—Not at all. Thank you for having me. 别这么说。谢谢你的招待。（不能说：Thank you for your coming.）

注意: Thanks/ Thank you for one’s + 名词；Thanks/ Thank you for + 动名词

Thanks for your help./ Thanks for helping me.

【参考解析】本题许多老师及同学在not后面是否加to纠结很久，尤其是前面的不定式为肯定，而后面的不定式为否定。其实这句话错在give up中间的it,其为多余，因为上下文中没有提及放弃什么。《大学英语语法讲座与测试》有个句式相似的例子：It’s just impossible to see that and not feel angry. 看到那个不生气是不可能的。

【参考解析】本题考查状语从句。答案为before。该词在语法填空的考查频度很高，又由于其词性复杂，常常是一个难点。其在引导状语从句时，在主从句都同时表示过去或将来的时候，这个词有一个很重要的使用特点，我们把握住这个特点，有时候会给我们做题带来很大的方便，那就，它的主句表达的往往是一个时间段或者是空间的距离。本题 a long way就是一个空间距离，所以解题时我们首先要考虑before。

14.【2017全国二卷·完形填空】As sad as it was, I couldn't help smiling.

【参考译文】虽然此事令人无比感伤，我还是忍不住笑了笑。

【参考解析】这里的as...as结构其实是一种我们很熟悉的as倒装结构多在美国英语中的变体。该句意思等同于Sad as it was, I couldn't help smiling.英国英语则很少用这种结构表让步关系。咱们看一下《英语准确用词词典》给的例句：

As nice as it was, I don't want to go there again. (RW)

= Nice as/though it was, I don't want to go there again.

=Though it was nice, I don't want to go there again.虽然那儿很好，但我不愿再到那儿去。

   其实在旧版人教高二上教材上也出现过类似的一句话：As simple as the equation may seem, it represents a theory so important that it changed science and physics completely. (http://www.hxen.net/)

【参考译文】我女儿凯西练习游泳已颇有时日，一路走来，其乐无穷。

【参考解析】该句很有难度，尤其是as long as的理解。其实其跟固定结构的as long as无关。这真正涉及到的是as ... as 结构的一种特殊用法---表示同一个人或物的不同性质，多具有“并列递进转折关系”，意思是“既...又”“但是”等。

She is as kind as honest.她既诚实又友善。

The news was as unexpected as (it was) welcome.消息来得很突然，但很受欢迎。
