Germany and Austria battle for quarterfinal spot

(BEIJING June 16) -- Germany will take on Group B opponents Austria on June 15 at 8:45 p.m. in a match that will decide which of the two teams will advance to the quarterfinals.

Germany will advance with a win or a draw; Co-hosts Austria needs to win to move on.

Germany's Marcell Jansen will be absent from the crucial match due to injury,as will Bastian Schweinsteiger, who continues to serve his suspension. But injured players Lukas Podolski and Philipp Lahm have been deemed fit to play, giving a boost to the German side.

Despite losing centre back Sebastian Proedl to a suspension, Austrian head coach Josef Hickersberger is confident about the match. "We're in excellent shape. We're better than we were in February and we have a decent chance," he was quoted by the UEFA as saying. "This is the biggest match of my life and it will be the biggest match of all time if we win."
