all along 伴随一件事物发生的始终

此语意为“伴随一件事物发生的始终”。其单独使用时,也可在后面加that引导的从句,从句多用进行时态。例如:We know all along that he is going to make it.(我们始终认为他会成功的）与之同义的有:all the time, all the way, etc。

A：The principal just announced that Dr. Smith is going to take over as dean of our department.
