【讲解】

短语face the music源于美国军队士兵所接受惩罚的一种仪式，据说当某个士兵犯了军纪，并被开除时,军官宜布他的罪状时要放一种音乐，而犯了军纪的士兵只好低头并面对这种音乐。后来该短语就用来指“接受惩罚，承担后果”。

【对话】

A:I crashed my father's car.

A:我把我爸的车撞坏了。

B:I'm sorry to hear that, but it's good to see you are all right.

B:听你这么说真难过，但你没事儿就好。

A:I'm sure I'll have his back up. I really don't know how I can escape the punishment.

A:我肯定他会生气的。我真不知道怎样才能免受惩罚。

B:You'd better tell your father what happened and face the music.
