M: Linda. what do you fancy to drink? A beer or a glass of wine?
M:琳达，你想喝点什么？啤酒还是葡萄洒？

W: To be honest, I'm sick of both.  I want to try something different.
W:说实话，这两种酒我都喝够。我想换换口味

M:This bar is famous for its vodka, you know. They've got many different flavours, even chocolate, which should be suitable for a chocoholic like you.
M：这个酒吧以卖伏特加酒出名。这种酒有很多不同的口味，甚至还有巧克力味的。你那 么喜欢吃巧克力，这个应该适合你。

W: I'm not sure if I like the casce of vodka, and it's very strong too. It's from Russia, isn't it?

M: Yes. but they make it in other countries roo. such as Finland and Sweden.

W: It says here that they sell Russian, flavoured vodka. Oh, they make it from gain. I thought they made it from potatoes!

M: I think in the past they made it from lots of different things. Look here, there's a pamphlet with a brief history.

W: " As early as the beginning of the 16th cenmry buming wine was brought not to Russia, but from it. It was the first experience of the Russian expore of vodka that later would take over the whole world".

M: Yes. you can buy it everywhere now!

W: It also says here that they distiIJ it four times. That seems like a lot.  And even in the 1700s they were making many weird and wonderful flavours. Every landowner had his own special one.

M: What's this flavour? Bird cherry and sage? I don't think you can buy that one nowadays. I wonder which rich landowner decided on that flavour.

W: Look at this, before 1885 vodka was sold onjy in buckets measuring  12.3 litres. Who could drink that much vodka?

M: Don't worry, here we can just buy it in a shot, a single measure of about 25 millilitres.

W: That sounds better. In 1953 the Moscow Special was awarded a gold medal at an intemational exhibition in Switzerland. That's the one they have here, now we call it Stolichnaya.

M: So. Linda which flavour are you going to try? They've got various fruits, like strawberry, peach, pear . .. and this one .

【背景介绍】
伏特加酒是俄罗斯的传统酒精饮料；伏特加酒以谷物或马铃薯为原料，经过蒸馏制成高达95度的酒精，再用蒸馏水淡化至40度到60度，并经过活性炭过滤，使酒质更加晶莹澄澈，无色且清淡爽口，使人感到不甜、不苦、不涩，只有烈焰般的刺激，形成伏特加酒独具一格的特色。因此，在各种调制鸡尾酒的基酒之中，伏特加酒是最具有灵活性、适应性和变通性的一种酒。
