K: Hi, Carys!

K:好啊，凯瑞斯！

C: Oh! Kevin, how are you? What about your school life at Oxford?

C:噢！凯文，你好吗？牛津大学的生活怎么样？

K: Marvelous! My room is very nice, and is located in the city centre.

K:棒极了！我的住所条件很好，还位于市中心。

C: Really? That’s great! Do you live out of the University?

C:是吗？那就好I丨永住在牛津大学外面吗？

K: No! My accommodation is provided by the college. My college provides accommodation for my entire course, so I don’t neet to rent privately outside.

K:不是的！住所是由学院提供的。我所在的学院为我提供了整个学习期间的住 所，所以我不必在学校外面自己租房。

C: Good! With a Porters，Lodge at the entrance, college rooms are very safe. The porters will deal with visitors and are responsible to oversee the security of rooms. They should get to know you and look after your personal safety.

K: Actually, living in college rooms benefits more than this. The overall cost of college accommodation is much cheaper than renting privately. As you know，our terms are only 26 weeks long a year. College accommodation is only need to be paid during term-time, while privately renting rooms would normally have to be paid for 52 weeks.

K:事实上，住在学院里的好处远不止这个。学院住所的总花费比私人租房要便 宜很多。你知道，我们一年的学期只有26周。学院的住所只需要在学期内付 费，然而私人租用的房间一般要交52周的租金。

C: Is it right to say that you have to move out your rooms at the end of each term?

K: Usually! However, we can stay if we pay for the vacation.

C; Well. If you move out of the college rooms, what about your luggage?

K: Hmmm...The college provides us luggage deposit service during holidays. As such, it，s not a problem.

C: Well, where do you usually eat?

K: I often eat in the college dining hall, and sometimes I have meals on the Cowley Road in the city centre. There are all kinds of delicatessens on the Road, as well as a great many restaurants, which cater to all tastes, such as Thai, French, Polish and more. My accommodation is in the city centre, so it is quite convenient.

C： Great! It seems that you have already adapted to your new environment completely. Now, tell me something about your campus!

K: My campus? There is too much to say! There are a wealth of libraries and museums in Oxford, and some of them have a world wide reputation. With over 8 million volums，the Bodleian Library is regarded as the second largest library in the UK, following the British Library. Other famous libraries contain Radcliffe Science Library, Sackler Library, Bodleian Social Science Library, Taylor Institution Library, and Bodleian Law Library.

K:校园？要讲的太多了！牛津大学有很多的图书馆和博物馆，其中有一些举世 闻名。拥有800多万册图书的牛津大学图书馆被评为英国第二大的图书馆， 仅次于英国图书馆。其他的知名图书馆包括拉德克里夫科学图书馆、萨克勒 图书馆、社会科学图书馆、泰勒机构图书馆和法律图书馆。

C: Wow! There are so many famous libraries in Oxford! You are a lucky dog!

C：哇！牛津大学有如此多有名的图书馆！你真幸运！

K: I do think so! Oxford’s well known museums include the Ashmolean Museum，  the Pitt Rivers Museum and the Museum of Natural History. They all contain collections of international importance.

K:我也这么认为！牛津大学的知名博物馆包括艾什莫林博物馆、毕兹瑞佛斯博 物馆和自然历史博物馆。它们都陈列着很重要的国际性的收藏品。

C: The University of Oxford deserves to be called the leading university in the world!

K: Right! For creation, there are a great many theatres in the University, including the Oxford Playhouse, the New Theatre, the Burton Taylor Studio, the OFS Studio and the Pegasus Theatre.

K:是啊！至于娱乐，牛津大学有很多剧场，包括牛津剧场、新剧场、伯顿•泰 勒工作室、0FS工作室和珀加索斯剧场。

C: These theatres are for you! You are a real big movie fan!

K: Haha，Correct! In addition to the University theatres, there are also four cinemas in the city, including Phoenix Picture House on Walton Street, Odeon cinemas on George Street and Magdalen Street, Ultimate Picture Palace just off Cowley Road.

C: It is said that Oxford has a large amount of green space, right?

K: Yeah! There are beautiful riverside walks, the University Parks, the oldest botanic garden in the country, and many college gardens.
