英语情景对话:

A: Henry married Rose only after her father's money, didn't he?
Henry只是看上Rose父亲的钱才娶了她,是吗?

B: Yeah. But he soon feels regretted for it.
是的。但是他很快就后悔了。

A: But he seems to be very happy with Rose.
可是他看上去和Rose在一起很幸福。

B: He is more nice than wise.
他是死要面子活受罪。

英语学习笔记:

1.be/ go after one's money:追求某人的金钱

Eg.I were not after fame or money but now I would like to go after it.
我以前不追名逐利,但是现在我要追求名利。

Eg.You are rest assured that I won't never go after your money.
你放心吧我永远都不会追求你的钱。

2.more nice than wise:死要面子活受罪,因爱面子而损害自己的利益

Eg.There is no need to be more nice than wise.
没有必要死要面子活受罪。

Eg.He refuse to accept help as he is nice than wise.
他由于死要面子而不肯接受帮助。

Eg.Do don't be so nice than wise any more! Tell me what you really feel.
不要这样死要面子活受罪了!告诉我真心话吧!

3.be happy with:和......在一起幸福,高兴,快乐

4.regret for:因......后悔

Eg.I bet you will regret for what you've said to me today.
我确信你会对你今天所言付出代价的。

Eg.We regret for the loss you have suffered and agree to compensate you by $500.
我们对你方遭受的损失深表歉意,同意向你们赔偿500 美元。

Eg.He felt no shame and no regret for what he had done.
他并不为他所做的事感到羞耻和后悔。
