第482期:苛刻的要求

Subject: It seems like a tall order.    情景对话：  A: My teacher expects me to get the entire taskcompleted in less than a week.  我的老师希望我在不到一周的时间内完成任务。   B: It seems like a tall order.  这个要求有点苛刻。
地道表达  a tall order 
1. 解词释义  Tall order的意思是“难以完成的任务”，其英文解释为“a formidable task or requirement”。对话中的“Itseems like a tall order.”的意思是“这个要求似乎有些苛刻。”    2. 拓展例句  e.g. He issued a tall order that no one could comply with.  他提出了一个谁都无法答应的要求。   e.g. It is a tall order to expect me to finish the job in two days. It will take a week at least.  期望我在两天内完成这个任务有些苛刻。这至少要一周的时间。   e.g. As you know, it's a tall order.
