Hurricane Florence pounded North Carolina, flooding streets and knocking out power to tens of thousands. Florence's eyewall began to reach the North Carolina coast early Friday.
Forecasters say Florence could bring catastrophic freshwater flooding to the Carolinas. The storm is expected to drop up to 30 inches of rain and push massive amounts of ocean water toward land.
A teen is dead and at least ten people are injured after a series of natural gas explosions north of Boston. Over-pressurized gas lines are blamed for the explosions and fires in dozens of homes.
And New York Governor Andrew Cuomo won the democratic primary as he seeks another term in office. He defeated actress Cynthia Nixon, who counted on a surge of liberal support.
