Mr. Trump said his French counterpart has been insulting by suggesting that Europe needed to protect itself from America. On Tuesday, President Macron called for a European army to protect it with respect to China, Russia and even the United States.
Wildfires burning out of control in the US state of California have killed at least 5 people. The deaths occurred in Butte County when 80-square-kilometer blaze is raging. Tens of thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes.

Sri Lanka's President Maithripala Sirisena has dissolved parliament and announced a snap election in an apparent attempt to avoid the damaging parliament vote next week.
