奥巴马主持美国国庆烧烤会
Parades were held throughout the United States on Sunday July 4th,celebrating the anniversary of the country’s independence. At the White House, President Barack Obama and wife Michelle held a barbecue attended by around 1,200 people including U.S. military members and families.
"This is the day when we celebrate the very essence of America. And the spirit that has defined us as a people, and as a nation for more than two centuries.Even now,all these years later,we still look in awe at the small band of patriots who stood up and risked everything, and defied an empire to declare that these united colonies are, and of right ought to be free and independent states. "
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden celebrated the day with troops in Iraq where he told the leaders of the nation that U.S. is committed to the country to spy plans to end combat operations in August, and withdraw completely next year.
Obama noted Biden’s visit in his remarks."My Vice President Joe Biden and his wonderful wife Dr. Jill Biden aren’t with us because they are spending the Fourth of July with our troops in Iraq. And I would add that because the honor and heroism of our troops, we are poised to end our combat mission in Iraq this summer --on schedule. That's thanks so many of you. "
After feasting on hot dogs and hamburgers, guests watched the spectacular fireworks displayed that lit up Washington sky and famous landmarks of U.S. Capitol.
