美国人关注中期选举

2014-11-05来源:CRI

Voters in the United States are continuing to cast ballots in the country's mid-term elections.

Polling heading into the vote is suggesting this election could give Republicans control of both chambers of Congress.

Republicans have a shot at turning at least 6-incumbent Democrat seats in the 100-member Senate.

36 senate and gubernatorial seats are up for grabs.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are also up for re-election.

Major issues facing voters is an economic rebound which has yet to filter through the middle class, on top of partisan gridlock in Washington which has seen the last Congress pass the fewest laws in Congressional history.

"They have to start doing something, and I think it just needs to change, plain and simple. There's got to be a change. Apparently the people there aren't doing their job. I do my job, they need to do theirs."

Also at issue is US President Barack Obama, who has been seen as weak in recent weeks in handling both the Islamic State and Ebola.

Final results of the US mid-term elections are due later on today.
