The U.S. government on Thursday imposed sanctions on some 150 companies and individuals it accuses of helping Russia's war effort against Ukraine.

The Departments of State and Treasury have announced a new round of sweeping sanctions on those the U.S. government accuses of sanctions evasion and circumvention to help Russia wage war against Ukraine.

美国国务院和财政部宣布了新一轮全面制裁，政府指责这些公司逃避和规避制裁，帮助俄罗斯对乌克兰发动战争。

Of particular focus is Russia's energy industry, with sanctions targeting the country's energy production and export capacity as well as Russia's metal and mining sectors.

Also sanctioned are those affiliated with the Wagner Group, militia alleged to have shipped munitions from North Korea to Russia, and those helping advance Russian malign activities in the Central African Republic.

A migrant reception center in Italy's southernmost island of Lampedusa is overwhelmed as authorities worked to transfer thousands of newly arrived migrants to the mainland.

The Red Cross says there are still 4,200 migrants at the center out of the 6,800 who reached the tiny tourist and fishing island within 24 hours in a flotilla of some 120 boats arriving from Tunisia.
