Hi, I'm Karla Dehncke, and welcome to www.hxen.net  Today I am going to show you how to make a holiday wreath, perfect for creating a festive atmosphere around your house during the holiday season.

Holiday Wreath Supplies

To make this holiday wreath, you will need:
one artificial or real pine wreath
assorted floral picks, such as jingle bells and pine or eucalyptus
a pre-made holiday bow
wire cutters
actual wire for assembly
picks with berries
ornaments
Select an Artificial or Real Pine Wreath
You can either buy an artificial pine wreath at a local craft store, or you can get a real pine wreath from a Christmas tree farm.

If you do get the artificial wreath as I have, you're going to want to make sure that you fluff out all of the pieces of pine because they are normally pretty squished down.

The nice thing about an artificial wreath is that you can store it away and use it every year. If you get a real wreath, you get the benefit of the natural pine scent, but you do have to redecorate it every year. What you want to look for is just covering any gaps, when they made the frame of the wreath, because you can see that the wreath is actually mounted on a metal frame.

Attach the Bow to the Holiday Wreath
The first thing I like to do is place the bow. And most pre-made bows come with some wire on the back so they are very easy to attach. And place it wherever the wreath looks least full. And that would be right here on this wreath. You just slip the wire around the wire mounting on the back.

Secure and Fluff the Bow
If you're going to hang the wreath out in kind of a windy area, you want to make sure that the wire is nice and tight. And if you've bought a bow that's reinforced with wire, as I have, you'll want to make sure to just kind of fluff it out just like the wreath. That's because the wire does get kind of squashed down in the store.

Decorate the Wreath With Floral Picks
Then you can continue on with your different assorted floral picks. I chose to go with some red jingle bells and pine. And again, since this is a fake wreath, you do have that wire frame on the back side you can use to actually hook this. You don't have to use any additional wire. And then we're going to use some floral eucalyptus picks and some berry picks.

Cut Craft Wire
If you're worried at all about how secure the picks are in the wreath, that's where your wire comes in. You'll want to reinforce it so that they don't fall off. In this case the floral picks are not very sturdy. So to make sure they stay on the wreath, we're going to go ahead and cut some craft wire.
Secure the Floral Picks With Wire
It's really easy. You just fish the wire through the wreath and around the metal frame. And then fill in any gaps by just bending the different branches of pine into place. Again, these picks do tend to have a nice sturdy wire bottom, so you can typically wrap them right around the frame themselves.

Add Ornaments to the Holiday Wreath
To dress it up, we're going to finish it up with a couple of gold ball ornaments. These come with their own metal frame, so you just wrap that around the frame of the wreath.

With the holidays being such a special time of year, it adds even more pleasure to make, give, or hang beautiful holiday wreaths.
