台湾有可能遭受海啸侵袭

Taiwan's geological authority has issued an alert that the island is likely to be hit by a tsunami. According to an official examination, a magnitude-8 earthquake may strike both the Ryukyu and Manila trenches, triggering a tsunami within one hour's time.

台湾地质部门明确预警，台湾可能遭受海啸侵袭。根据一个正式调查指出，邻近台湾的琉球海沟与马尼拉海沟可能会发生8级以上的地震，所造成的海啸将不用一小时就能抵达台湾沿岸。

The distance between the two trenches and Taiwan is less than 4-hundred kilometers. The steep terrain along the Eastern coast becomes a barrier to guard against the tsunami. However, areas between Chiayi and Pingtung, as well as keelong and Ilan have the highest risk of being hit by the tsunami, due to the shallow waters around.
这两个海沟跟台湾的距离低于400公里。台湾东部近岸地形陡峭，较不易受海啸侵入，但嘉义到屏东、基隆到宜兰，因外海坡度平缓，水深较浅，成为高风险灾害区。
