沙尘暴袭击中国北方

Strong sandstorms gusting from Inner Mongolia have darkened many areas of northern China. About 94 million people's work and life has been affected by the bad weather. Yuli takes a closer look at the weather conditions.

People in Harbin in Northeast China woke up to find they'd better stay indoors. Outside, visibility was low due to strong winds and a raging sandstorm.

Staff at the meteorology office explained where the sand from.

Yuan Yingmei, Weather Forecaster of Heilongjiang Meteorology Office, said, The sand is coming to Heilongjiang province by a Southwest Airflow from Inner Mongolia. The weather is hammering Daqing and Harbin, and Suihua will be hit by the sand storm later."
黑龙江气象台天气预报员Yuan Yingmei说,“此次沙尘是受内蒙古西南气流的影响,吹向黑龙江的。这种天气袭击了大庆和哈尔滨,沙尘暴随后将袭击绥化。”
The condition in Inner Mongolia, where the sandstorm started, turned out to be worse.

Sandstorms are a yearly spring phenomena in northern China from March to May. It is the seventh time this year a storm has whipped through the region. The figure is much lower than last year which saw 16 storms occur.
沙尘暴是中国北方每年3-5月出现的一种春季现象。该地区是今年第七次受风暴的强烈袭击。这个数字远远低于去年发生的16次风暴。
And it's much weaker as well, according to the State Forestry Bureau.
根据国家林业局,今年的风暴也比较弱。
As it's routine weather in China, tips for going out when encountering sandstorms are essential.
由于这在中国是一种例行的气候,所以对遭遇沙尘暴时的提示是很重要的。
First of all, don't go out if you can.
首先,如果可以,尽量不要外出。
If you can't, wear gauze mask or anything that can cover your mouth and enable you to breath.
如果不行,戴上薄纱口罩或任何可以盖住嘴巴又能保证呼吸的东西。
And don't forget to shut all the windows in your home before you leave, or all your home might be blanketed in sand.
离开家之前别忘了关上所有的窗,不然家里将覆盖上一层沙。
