湖北干旱可能导致今年缺水

As one of the areas worst hit by the drought, Central China's Hubei Province has many paddy fields thirsty for water. CCTV reporter, Shen Le travelled to one village to find out how the dry spell has affected this year's rice harvest.
作为旱灾的重灾区之一，华中湖北省许多稻田渴望雨水。中央台记者沈乐去到一个村庄查明干旱如何影响到今年水稻的收成。

This is the biggest water reserve in Loukou village. It hasn't rained for more than 3 months and there's very little water left.
这是楼口村最大的水库。已经超过三个月没有降雨了，水库里已经没有水。

Shen said, "Usually it’s the season to fight floods, local villagers would ride on these boats to reinforce dams along the way. However, the drought has reduced water levels significantly, and as you can see, all the boats are stranded."
沈说：“通常现在是抗洪的季节，当地村民应驾着这些船沿路加强堤坝。然而，旱灾明显降低了水位，正如你看到的，所有的船都被搁浅在这。”

61-year-old farmer Fang Shunxiao is heading to his fields to check the crops.
61岁的农民方顺晓正朝他的农田走去，看看他的农作物。

When we arrive, we see a motorized plough sitting in a sea of weeds. At this time of the year, the fields should be submerged to grow rice. But now, they're completely empty.
我们到达的时候，看到一个电动犁躺在一堆杂草中间。今年这个时候，田地本来应该浸在水中种植水稻的。但是现在，它们完全是空的。

Uprooting some seedlings, Fang says he has missed the narrow window for planting.
方将一些秧苗连根拔起，说，他已经错过了极短的种植时间。

“The seedlings need to grow partially submerged. But due to the lack of water, they have taken root in much drier soil. If you transplant them, the roots will be destroyed and the crop will die. There’s nothing we can do now. There’s no water left, nothing. We've lost everything,” said Fang.
“秧苗要部分浸水才能种植。但是由于缺水，它们已经在较干燥的土壤上生根了。如果你移植它们，它们的根就会受到破坏，水稻就会死。现在我们什么都不能做。没有水，什么都没有。我们失去了一切。”方说。
