日本首相菅直人辞职

Japanese Prime Minister, Naoto Kan, has announced his resignation as the leader of the Democratic Party of Japan.

In a speech to parliament, Naoto Kan said he would resign as Japan's prime minister after the next chief of the ruling Democratic Party of Japan was elected.

Earlier on Friday, Japan's parliament passed a renewable energy bill and a bond-issuance bill. Passing these two bills was the condition Naoto Kan set for his resignation.
