中国首批援助粮食前往非洲

More than 14 hundred tons of wheat in Chinese aid has left Tianjin for the Horn of Africa that has been suffering from the worst drought and famine in sixty years. The food is expected to arrive in Ethiopia by the end of this month.
中国援助的1400多吨小麦已经离开天津，运往遭受60年来最严重旱灾、饥荒的非洲之角。这批粮食预计今个月底到达埃塞俄比亚。

China has promised to provide 70 million US dollars worth of food aid to the region where more than 12 million people are in desperate need. Besides wheat, the aid also includes rice and cooking oil. The second batch will leave Shanghai on Friday. The rest will be delivered each week until the end of September. China has also offered 16 million US dollars of cash of aid to Somalia.
中国承诺提供价值七千万美元的食品援助给这个有1200多万人急需帮助的地区。除了小麦，援助的食品还包括大米和食用油。第二批援助食品将在周五离开上海。剩下的将每周发送一次，直到九月底。中国还为索马里提供了1600万美元的现金援助。

Ren Nuo, Director of Commerce Ministry Foreign Aid Dept., said, "We're working on a tight schedule. We must first guarantee the quality of these food supplies and deliver them to those most in need as soon as possible. The Food Program with the UN has been purchasing rice and corn in the Europe. Food will also be sent to Somalia by the end of this month."
商务部对外援助司负责人Ren Nuo表示：“我们正在紧锣密鼓地工作着。我们首先必须保证这些食品供应的质量，并尽快发送到那些急需救援的人手中。联合国食品计划署已经在欧洲购买了大米和玉米。这些食品将在这个月底送到索马里。”
