暴雨袭击贵州省
Guizhou, like many other provinces in China has been experiencing extreme rainfall in recent days. It’s caused flooding in some areas, prompting the local authority to take emergency action.
The storms have swept across Guizhou, affecting many areas including Tongren, Zunyi, Guiyang and Bijie.
In Wujiang county of Zunyi, 36 people, including a one year old baby, were trapped in their homes by rising floodwater.
A rescue effort got underway immediately. After 4 hours, all 36 people had been rescued.
Qiu Feng, spokesman of Guizhou Flood Control Office, said, “The water levels of most rivers are still safe at present, except in Zunyi. We’ve had no deaths reported, and we’re still looking into the damage.”
Meteorologists say the extremely heavy rainstorms are expected to continue till Wednesday.
Tan Jian with Guizhou Meteorological office said, “The most seriously affected areas will be south Guiyang, east Zunyi, and north-central Tongren, as well as the north and central part of Qianxinan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.”
Reporter: "Weather forecasts say the rain will affect western Guizhou into the coming weekend. To fight against flooding and landslides, the provincial meteorological authorities, and other related departments have initiated emergency plans to limit the damage.”
