A zoo in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has given its visitors some panda-themed drama. The event at Zoo Negara had it all—performances, live painting events, famous artists and high-profile guests—all in the spirit of deepening cultural exchanges between Malaysia and China.

On Monday, visitors at the Giant Panda Conservation Center were treated to a panda show and traditional Chinese art performances.

The highlight of the event was a series of 60 panda paintings by renowned Chinese artist Liu Jinquan. One of these paintings, dubbed ‘The Three Fortunes’, will remain permanently on show at the conservation center.

"The panda is a lively animal. In this painting, the "fortunes" have three meanings. They stand for the panda itself, which is China's state treasure, the good relationship between our two countries, and the benefits brought by their growing economies," Liu said.

Rosmah Mansor, wife of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, attended the event. She even took the brush herself to draw a panda, before praising the event.

"The coming of the panda artist will not only promote cultural exchanges between China and Malaysia. It also symbolizes the sound relations between our two countries," she said.

Last May, China lent two pandas to Zoo Negara for 10 years, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. The adorable pair instantly became a hit with visitors.
