日本羽毛球公开赛林丹苦战夺冠

Chinese star and former world number one Lin Dan was seeking his first Super Series trophy of the season when he took on Viktor Axelsen in the men's singles final.

Super Dan with set point in the first. Axelsen digs deep to return the smash. The 21-year-old from Denmark is playing in his first final, a sharp contrast to his very experienced 31-year-old opponent. Axelsen plays a drop shot and then a quick flick from Dan has him scrambling, taking the set as the shuttlecock hit the floor before he got to it.

But Axelsen would fight back and take the second to force a decider. Dan is now up 20-19 with match point and after some tight play near the net, Dan sends it deep and just catches the back line to close it out, celebrating with a serious windmill.

And the Chinese claims his biggest win of the season.

Okuhara beats Akane 21-18, 21-12

The women's singles was an all Japanese affair between Nozomi Okuhara and Akane Yamaguchi. Okuhara wins the first set 21-18.

On mtach point, a high serve is returned in kind by Yamaguchi then Okuhara drills an overhead to earn her first Super Series title.

Zhao & Zhong win women's doubles

In the women's doubles, the eighth seeded Zhao Yunlei and Zhong Qianxin made it two gold medals for China by defeating fourth seeds Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark in two straight sets, 21-12, 21-16.
