cora: this new supermarket is really great. there's such a wide selection of things.

simone: yes, it's much better than the one i usually go to.

cora: and look at some of those prices. they're way below what i would normally pay in the other place.

simone: well that's not surprising. they're all loss leaders.

cora: what do you mean "loss leaders"?

simone: the store is losing money on them. but they do that to attract people inside so that they'll buy a lot of other stuff at normal prices.
西蒙娜：这些货品，超市是蚀本出售的，目的是吸引顾客到来，多买其他货品，而这些其他货品当然不会减价。
