名人教英文：可作名词的形容词

有些英文字通常用作形容词，但其实也可以当作可数名词使用。

举例说，形容词moderate可解作中等、适度、平庸或温和。a moderate price 即中等价钱。"a moderate amount of stress can help improve your performance" 的 "moderate amount of stress" 是指适量的压力，"the film only achieved moderate box office success" 即票房表现平平。"so-and-so adopted a more moderate election platform in order to win over undecided voters" 即某某用温和的政纲争取游离选民支持。

moderate 作名词时，取上述最后一个意思，指立场温和的人，如：the moderates in both political parties are likely to reach an agreement on this issue.
radical用以形容根本的转变，也形容激进的政治立场。例如：

?the new ceo has brought radical changes to the company.
?these people hold radical views and do not support gradual (渐进的) reforms.
