in english, the grammatical functions of sentences and moods are interconnected, as explained below.

sentences 语句
a sentence starts with a capital letter and contains necessarily a predicate (必有谓词). there are basically five types of sentences, namely:

1. declarative 直陈式
it is a sentence which makes a statement or presents an argument. a declarative sentence ends with a full-stop.
eg declarative sentences are the most commonly used in the english language.

2. exclamatory 感叹式
it is a sentence which expresses a feeling or shows surprise and ends with an exclamation mark!
eg john is the best!

3. imperative 命令式
it is a sentence which gives a command or makes a request. the subject of the sentence may be omitted. it ends with a full-stop or an exclamation mark.
eg come here. be quiet!

4. interrogative 疑问式
it is a sentence which asks a question and ends with a question mark.
eg when are you coming home?

5. conditional 假定式
it is a sentence which is associated with verbs used in the subjunctive mood. this type of sentence has a distinctive matching tense structure.
eg if you were rich, i would marry you. (indicating the present)
eg had you been rich, i would have married you. (indicating the past)

moods 语气
the grammatical "mood" implies changes in a verb to show the form and manner in which the thoughts are expressed. 文法上的语气暗示着某动词的格式与态度。
