“到了……的程度/地步”在英语有多种说法，例如 to the extent of 、to the extent that 或 to such an extent that。

mary has distanced herself from her siblings to such an extent that she has not seen them for years. 意思即是 mary 和她的兄弟姐妹竟疏远到多年不见的地步。

又譬如说，早前有报章报道，政府要求公务员准备政策讨论文件时，要包括评估内地反应。其实政府制订政策前从来都要广泛评估各持份者的反应，广泛程度令新的规定象征意义大于实际影响。the policymakers have always taken a wide range of stakeholders' views into consideration, to the extent that the requirement to include an assessment on mainland reaction in policy papers is arguably symbolic or even gratuitous.

另一种说法是to the degree that或to such a degree that。例如：peter was worried about the job interview to such a degree that he could not sleep.

to the point of 即“到了近乎……的地步”。

?larry is very talkative, to the point of being annoying. 意思是 larry 多话得令人烦厌。

?he is straightforward to the point of being rude. 他坦率得近乎无礼。
要留意的是 to the point 跟 to the point of 完全不同。to the point 解作“中的”、 relevant：his speech was short and to the point.
on the point of 解作“将近”、“快要” ，和 to the point of 有微妙的分别，例如：
