“大减价” 是"On sale“还是”For sale"？搞错了，后悔都来不及！

很多人一看到sale这个单词
就会马上以为是
“打折；促销”的意思，
以为for sale和on sale是一样的
不过......
这两个词组的意思是不一样的！

For sale和On sale 分别是什么意思？

For sale

For sale的意思是offered to be sold; made available to purchasers（愿意出售的;可提供给购买者）

On sale

On sale的意思是able to be bought at reduced prices（可以以较低的价格购买）

If something is for sale, you can buy it. If something is on sale, you can buy it at a discount.

如果有东西是for sale，那就是说你可以买它。如果某物是on sale，那就是说你可以打折买它。

我们用下边几个例子来加深一下理解：

Student A: "I need to buy a widget."
我需要买个小玩意。
Student B: "Go to Jumbo. They have them for sale."
去珍宝吧。他们那有卖的。

Student B: "Hah! I got mine on sale for 450 SF!"
哈!我在促销的时候买的花了450！

Often stores perpetually have On Sale signs in their windows, even if the items might not be discounted, and they should be displaying For Sale. Sometimes they will simply show Sale, in which case they imply On Sale.

通常商店的橱窗里总是挂着On Sale的牌子，即使商品可能没有打折，其实应该是For Sale的。有时他们只是简单地写个Sale，在这种情况下，他们暗示在促销。
