This is Nick Kelly with the BBC news.

The British Prime Minister Theresa May is due to make a statement in Parliament later this morning after her Cabinet backed the draft Brexit agreement reached with the European Union. A number of ministers are now known to have spoken against the deal and there's no guarantee that Mrs. May will be able to win parliamentary approval. Some pro-Brexit MPs in the governing Conservative Party say they will reject the deal because it could lead to Britain being bound by EU rules for years to come. A leading Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg is one of them.

It will have to come to a vote in the House of Commons and if it is what we expect I will vote against it and I expect many others will. This does not meet either the result of the referendum or indeed the Conservative Party's manifesto promises which are very important and on which I stood for election. And as for the Prime Minister's own position, I have consistently said I'm in favor of changing the policy rather the person but they unquestionably come to point which the two become indistinguishable.

The main opposition Labour Party has also signalled it will vote against the agreement saying it is not in the national interest. Meanwhile, in Brussels, the European Union is expected to move quickly to confirm the next steps in the Brexit process. The EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier will tell the European Council President Donald Tusk that a threshold of progress has been reached. Mr. Tusk is then expected to convene a summit of EU leaders towards the end of this month to sign off on the text. Michael Avenatti was just heard. The lawyer who represents the adult film star Stormy Daniels in her legal battles with President Trump has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of domestic violence. A police spokesman said Mr. Avenatti was released on bail after he was formally booked. David Willis reports from Los Angeles.

Michael Avenatti was arrested following an incident with a woman at an apartment building here. Michael Avenatti famously sued President Trump in March this year on behalf of the porn star known as Stormy Daniels. That lawsuit sought to invalidate a non-disclosure agreement she had signed regarding an alleged affair with Mr. Trump more than a decade ago. A frequent guest on TV talk shows and cable news programs, Mr. Avenatti has emerged as a fierce critic of President Trump and at one point was publicly contemplating running for president himself in two years' time.
