Within hours of taking office as Britain’s new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has carried out a major clear-out of ministers who served under his predecessor. More than half have either resigned or been sacked, leaving a cabinet more likely to support a no-deal Brexit if an agreement can’t be reached with the EU. Mr. Johnson has promised that Britain will leave the bloc at the end of October, come what may.

Robert Mueller who oversaw the probe into Russia’s interference in the last US presidential election has warned at a congressional hearing that attempts to influence American politics are continuing. Mr. Mueller told congress that his report didn’t clear President Trump of obstructing justice, but repeated that no collusion had been found between Russia and the Trump Admiration campaign.

South Korea’s military says North Korea has fired an unidentified projectile. It said the object was fired from an area near Hwasong on North Korea’s eastern coast.

The Sudanese army says it’s foiled a military coup and arrested several high-ranking officers and senior members of the former governing party National Congress. A military statement says those arrested included the army chief of staff.

And the Dutch actor, Rutger Hauer who starred in the 1982 film Blade Runner, has died at the age of 75. He played a murderous android, opposite Harrison Ford.
