Hundreds of thousands of protesters have gathered again in Chile, forcing the suspension of a session of congress in the city of Valparaíso. Politicians and officials had to be escorted out of the building by riot police after anti-government activists tried to force their way in. The president of congress described it as a high-risk situation.
A judge in the United States has ordered that the Trump administration to hand over grand jury evidence from the Muller inquiry into Russian election meddling. Democrats in Congress have been demanding the documents as part of their investigation into whether President Trump tried to obstruct justice.
The governor of California has declared a state of emergency in Sonoma and Los Angeles counties because of two rapidly spreading wildfires. The emergency services have struggled to tackle the fires that forced about 40,000 people to leave their homes.
A curfew has been imposed in the southern Iraqi city Nasiriyah after another day of nationwide clashes between anti-government protesters and security forces, which killed at least 27 people. Eight died in Baghdad, the rest in the south of Iraq.
