The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has told NATO leaders they have an opportunity to strengthen the unity of purpose that's made NATO the most successful alliance in history. Mr. Johnson was speaking as he formally opened NATO's 70th anniversary gathering near London.

There have been fractious exchanges on Tuesday between President Trump and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, who has said NATO is in the throes of brain death. Footage has emerged of NATO leaders discussing President Trump's behavior during the NATO meeting on Tuesday. The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is heard explaining that others were late, because Mr Trump talked so much at his press meetings and later saying how of the US President's team's jaws dropped to the floor although the context to the remark is not clear.
