英特尔获利低于预期 全球裁员5%
- It's troubling because i think you know we are used to hearing from you that you are very well spread that you've got a good eye on what the next technology is going to be, it seems all of the things have gone wrong this time, what did go wrong?
- So the pc segment, yes, it's shrinking in volume, some segments within the pc market, within the pc segment are growing like ultrabooks, like thin and lights, like all in ones and this is good news, the recently introduced two in one is getting great acceptance in the market place, and if you look at all of the computing devices that people use to access the internet, tablets plus pc shipments from Intel in the fourth quarter was up from the fourth quarter of 2012 by 10% which is positive news.
- Well, nevertheless, it's clearly tablets and smart phones are maybe if not the future, then certainly a very very part of the present and the immediate future, you seemed to be losing out to Qualcomm and Samsung, you only got a slightest small market share, what are you doing to put that right?
- We are starting to contribute to the tablet segment in 2013, we ended up the year with a significant contribution to it growing and we have an objective to participate with 14 million units plus in 2014 on tablets.
- Ok, is that going to be enough to turn around profits, when will we see a turnaround?
This is going be good to participate towards a computing device into the internet, adding to the pcs, adding to the infrastructure of data centers and we are building cloud drawers, the networking drawers, the storage that we have and then you combine this with the internet sort of things and the extension which is very worth, which will be one part of getting additional information when you wanted on the different shapes and forms, so all those new devices are deep built will be using, and we have architectures to address all of those audiences.
- Let's getting into one specific one which is cloud devices because presumably if we are not storing stuff on our own pcs or even in our tablets and smartphones, we are going to be storing it in the cloud, IBM has said for example just today or yesterday actually that's it's spending one and a quarter billion dollars around numbers to build 15 new data centers, the company also says the global cloud market is estimated to grow to 200 billion dollars by 2020, that's an enormous market, what's Intel going to be doing about it?
- During the fourth quarter we grew over 30% in our cloud infrastructure, cloud technologies we shipped to market place, we were very closely with our customers, with large end users, and we have just launched an Intel inside cloud initiative with large service providers around the world and this you rightly mentioned is a very fast growing opportunity and we are very engaged in this segment of the industry.
