Four years after a heart attack left Ivonette Balthazar bed-ridden.She received a new heart from Stefan Hans, the German Olympian died in Rio.She is back on her feet now in committal living alive in her Olympian’s honor.

Regarding the walks and races I did my first walk just a little while ago and really is was a tribute to him,for me and for him because I would not be able to do that three-kilometer walk alone.

I did it in 36 minutes for me that was a victory. It was like I won a gold medal and I also felt it was a way to thank him for having been able to do this because I alone would never have been able to do that.

Her doctors say there is nothing she cannot do.

Her heart is great, marvelous, it functioned very well and the heart will allow her to change her life’s history.

She was very limited and she will develop much better now and most importantly with quality. She will be able to do things she never would have dreamt of and that is thanks to the person who in no longer here with us but it is contributing so another person can enjoy an improvement in her life.

Balthazar has also promised herself she will canoe as well in her donors honor.

I am really taking care of this heart.I would like to give his mother a hug because I am also a mother and I know how much she must be suffering because there is no greater pain than a mother losing her child.I would hug them and tell them that I am going to do everything I can to make sure this heart is alive for a long time and I am going to try to do as much as I can.

She has sent the family of Stefan Hans a letter to thank them.
