国际英语新闻:Brazil dismisses sanctions over Iran's nuclear standoff, prefers dialogue
The Brazilian top diplomat also called on Iran to take proper measures to remove existing concerns about the country's nuclear drive, saying that "we have no reason to believe that Iran is not after peaceful purposes," according to the report.
In a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani in Tehran on Monday, Amorim emphasized that imposing sanctions on Iran would not be the best way forward, according to the local satellite Press TV.
Imposing sanctions would be a negative and unfair move that bears no fruit, he was quoted as saying, adding that Iran has the right to enrich uranium.
Larijani criticized the sanction pressure on Iran, adding that "Issuing resolutions and imposing sanctions are not the correct language for dialogue and interaction with Iran."
Earlier on Monday, in a separate meeting with Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, Amorim expressed support for Iran 's civilian nuclear energy program, Press TV said.
On Tuesday, Mottaki hailed Brazil's positive role in the international scene, its outstanding status at the United Nations Security Council and its important place in Iran's foreign policy.
