"In our long meeting, bilateral ties were reviewed and new areas for active cooperation were specified," he said, referring to his meeting with his Brazilian counterpart.
Iran and Brazil can take significant steps towards establishing international peace and security through constructive cooperation, said Mottaki.
Considering the fact that Brazil holds an important position in the UN Security Council, it can play its role in making logical and just decisions on major international issues, said Mottaki.
The Brazilian minister also stressed that "the relations between the two countries have been strengthened and several technical and commercial delegations have been exchanged between the two countries in the past years."
When asked about the nuclear fuel swap proposal, Iran's foreign minister said that Iran hopes a nuclear fuel swap will be implemented in the near future.
Mottaki said Tehran and Brasilia "share the opinion that the fuel exchange can be the ground for confidence-building for all the sides involved."
