本集简介：

Phoebe, pregnant, has cravings for meat; Joey agrees to be a temporary vegetarian so she can eat meat without causing more animals to die. Rachel creates a fake party for Emily, which is really an excuse to spend time with Joshua outside of work; she makes a fool of herself trying to make him like her... she even puts on her old high-school cheerleader uniform. Ross is bummed that Emily will soon be returning home to England; Rachel convinces him that his relationship with Emily doesn't have to end.

Rachel 暗恋 Joshua 已经有好一段时间了，
她借口为 Emily 开surpise Bon Uoyage party

实际是想借此机会接近Joshua，

为了能够吻到Joshua，
RacheL 想尽各种办法，
先是 play hard to get
(欲擒故纵，故意装出难以接近的样子，

继而向朋友们讨教， Monica 说她可以玩 mistletoe 或者 Spin the BottLe；表面上她虽然拒绝大家的建议，
实际上没有办法的她却老老实实地一一试遍，
还别出心裁地扮成　cheerleader

当晚，

Joey and Monica: Are you all right?
Rachel: I'm fine! I'm fine! I'm just losing a tooth, it's no big deal. I have a dentist! Y'now. I'm gonna go put some ice on it. Excuse me. (She goes over to the ice and Joey and Monica follow her.) What do I do now? What do I do now?

Joey: Okay, time to take off the bra. (She glares at him.)
Joshua: Umm, that was really great, but I-I gotta take-off actually.
Joey: (trying not to be obvious) Take the bra off.
Rachel: All right, come on, let's go get your coat.

Rachel 对 Joshua 的评价是：“Look at him，he's so cute”．她接着问大家：How can I kiss him and not letting him know that I like him?

Joey 在给 Rachel 教如何 seduce (引诱) Joshua 时，先是把 Flashdance(《闪舞》)弄成了 Footloose (《浑身是劲》)。继而又把剧中脱胸罩姑娘的职业说成 plumber girl (水管工姑娘)，其实本来是个 welder (焊工姑娘)。

take off 一词的意思本来是指“(飞机)起飞”，但是，在口语中经常表示“离开”的意思，口语中也可用 be off。比如：I am gonna take off( 我得走了。再如：

You are off now．I gotta take off as well．So maybe we can leave here
together．(你要走了吗?正好我也得离开了。或许，我们可以一起离开这。)

Fake yourself off right now! (你给我马上走人!)

I’m taking off now．(我要走了。)表示要走的说法还可以有：

I really gotta go／run．See you around．(我真的得走了。再见!)

Bye for now．／Catch you soon! (再见!)

I'd better be off．Take care! (我还是告辞吧。保重!)

此外，take off 还指“起飞”。如：If an aircraft，bird or insect takes off．it leaves the ground and begins to fly．

take off 当然还可以表示“脱掉、拿开”的意思，例如：During the intervals between classes，many students like to take off their shoes and chase
each other on the grass or just walk around the campus to have a short break as
if it is really a great way to relax. (课间的时候，许多学生都喜欢脱掉他们的鞋子，在草地上打闹，或者在校园中溜达溜达休息一下，好像这就是一

种非常好的放松方式。)

Take off your coat and stay for a while．(把外套脱掉，待上一会儿。)

take the brake off是说“放开闸”。再比如，歌曲里和电影对白里常会

出现的这样的句子：Sweetheart，you are so beautiful that I can hardlv take

my eyes off you．

take off还有“紧追、向……快速移动”的意思，例如：

The dog took off after the car．(那只狗紧追着那辆小汽车。)

再看一个例子：That actor's career has really taken off．在这句话中，
take off的意思是“achieve sudden growth”。

而“He had a way of taking off the governor that made us howl With

laughter．”这个句子中的 take off 则是“imitate humorously or satirically”

的意思。

I’m taking off from work today because of the funeral．在这句话中的
take off 是表示“休息、不工作” (have break from work)。再如：I took a

day off for the wedding．
