动词judge的三条搭配说明

1. 表示评价或判断的依据，通常连接介词 from 或 by。如：

You can’t judge a book by its cover. 不能凭封面判断一本书（的好坏）。

A man should be judged by what he does, not what he says. 看人应该看他的行动而不是他的言论。

2. 用于 judging from [by]，意为“根据……来看”，在句中用作插入语，此时该短语无需与句子主语保持一致。如：

Judging from what you say, he ought to succeed. 根据你所说的，他应该会成功。

Judging from [by] his accent, he may be from the south. 听他的口音，他可能是南方人。

以上结构有时也用 judge 的过去分词或不定式形式，但不如以上用现在分词的情形常见。如：

To judge from the evidence of the experts, the man was still alive at three o’clock. 从专家们提供的证据来判断，这个人3点钟还活着。

Judged by the ordinary standards, he was reliable. 用一般的标准来衡量，他是可信赖的。

3. 有时后接不定式的复合结构，但其中的不定式通常为 to be，其意为“判断（认为）某人（某事）是”。如：

The scheme was judged to be uNPRofitable. 这项计划被认为无利可图。

They judged the distance to be about four miles. 他们估计距离大约为4英里。
