The White House is insisting that President Donald Trump was not made aware of U.S. intelligence officials' conclusion that Russia secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants for killing American troops in Afghanistan. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh Mcenany said neither the President or Vice President Mike Pence were briefed on the matter.
The Supreme Court has struck down a Louisiana law regulating abortion. Chief Justice Roberts and his four more liberal colleagues ruled that the law requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals violates abortion rights the court first announced in the landmark Roe V. Wade decision in 1973.
Florida officials announce more beach closings in hopes of avoiding further spread of coronavirus. Broward and Palm Beach counties said they would be closing beaches during the busy fourth of July weekend following the decision of neighboring Miami-Dade county to close theirs between July 3 and July 7.
Mississippi legislators have taken historic votes to remove a Confederate battle emblem from their State flag. Republican governor Tate Reeves is expected to sign the bill. It requires that a new flag be designed without the emblem that many condemn as racist.
