The United Nation's top human rights official has called on the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo to take action to curb rights violations by the country's army. Michelle Bachelet made the comments at the end of a five-day visit to the DRC. Roger Walker reports.

As Bachelet said there had been 19 extrajudicial executions in November alone, a trip to Africa's second largest country has included talks with President Felix Tshisekedi, who took office a year ago. She said she was pleased that in that time, the total number of human rights violations, including those committed by rebel forces, had fallen slightly. But she said her main concern was abuses by the state.

The US Supreme Court has told President Trump he can go ahead with a controversial policy to deny certain immigrants the right to permanently live in America. It overturned a lower court ban on the public charge policy which allows applicants for permanent residency to be disqualified if they are deemed likely to need government financial help. Here's the BBC's Peter Bowes.

Immigration is one of President Trump's core issues, clamping down, being tougher on their illegal immigration. So I think in those areas that are leaning towards President Trump anyway, a ruling like this can only benefit Mr. Trump when it comes to election. On the other hand though, there are many areas that rely on immigrant communities, certainly California for one, where this kind of ruling will be seen as a negative.

The 85-year-old former king of Belgium has admitted he is the father of a woman born from an affair, ending a lengthy legal battle. A statement from Albert II's lawyers said he had learned the results of the DNA test ordered by a court and concluded that he was the biological father of Delphine Boel. He now accepts Ms. Boel, a 51-year-old artist, as his 4th child, and that will end a lengthy legal battle.

A rare species of frog native to the Bolivian Andes has been spotted for the first time in 18 years. The bright green Bolivian Cochran frog is tiny around two centimeters long. It has a transparent belly through which its heart and digestive tract can be seen. With the latest, here is Candace Piette.

A spokesman for Bolivia's Natural History Museum in Cochabamba said the rediscovery of one of the most charismatic amphibians in the world offered a ray of hope for the future of glass frogs. Amphibians are increasingly at risk because of the spread of a fungal disease, and because of climate change and loss of habitat. Investigators came across the specimens in early January during a mission to rescue reptiles and amphibians threatened by a hydroelectric project in the Carrasco National Park. Three of the frogs have been taken to the museum to take part in a breeding program.
