The US Coast Guard says presumed human remains have been recovered from the wreckage of the submersible that imploded on a voyage to the Titanic earlier this month.

In a statement, the Coast Guard said medical professionals would conduct a formal analysis of presumed human remains that have been recovered within the wreckage.

Debris from the sea floor is now being examined by investigators from several international jurisdictions with the hope of determining the cause of the accident.

The collection of evidence is continuing along with interviews with those closely involved with the submersible's mission ahead of a public inquiry into the tragedy.

French police have arrested 11 people in another night of protests in the suburb of Paris where a teenage boy was shot dead by a police officer.
