1.call for 要求;需要;提倡

He sat down and called for some beer.

他坐下来要了一些啤酒。

The crew of the ship are calling for a raise in pay.

这艘轮船上的全体船员正在要求增加工资。

2.shut off 切断;关掉

His girlfriend left the week before, less than a day after they shut off the electricity.

他的女朋友一个星期前离开了,在他们切断电源后不到一天。

There's...the other thing also good too, to shut down or shut off all electronic devices so that you don't receive your texts or your calls during the interview. That can be very distracting.

还有一点注意下也比较好,就是关闭或切断所有电子设备,这样你在面试过程中不会收到所有信息及电话,因为这二者非常分散人的注意力。

3.struggle to 竞争
