From splashy colors to more neutral tones this is a celebration of African couture.One fashion designer says wearing African-inspired cuts should be done with confidence and without hesitation.This is the Africa we need to be living in, the unapologetically African.So that if I’m in New York, if I am in London, if I’m anywhere they need to know that I’m from Africa.

African fashion international the company behind the event says it wants to give both new and established designers a platform to develop African fashion.To me it’s about discovering new challenge but also see what my favorite designers that I’ve always been used to have to offer this time.Beyond fashion the event allows people from all sorts of artistic ventures to get together in one place.This is more like a get-together for creators, you know,because it’s not just fashion you find, musicians as well, they come in the perform, there’s rappers, there’s soccer players.It’s more like a gathering.

Afro-Asia was the theme this year allowing designers from China, Cambodia and Japan to also showcase their work. This fraction is very special and never seen before so it was very exciting for us and it was definitely great.The Japanese designers were inspired by their travel around the world combining different cultures with a vintage touch.
