本集简介：

Joey shows his friends his new apartment, which (unfortunately) he decorated himself. A record producers signs Phoebe to make a video of Smelly Cat, but dubs in someone else's voice. Monica is annoyed that Ross is around so much; they fight like typical siblings. Chandler and Joey miss each other, but neither one will admit it.

Chandler gets a new roommate, Eddie, who seems like a great guy. Joey is jealous, and he and Chandler fight like a typical couple. Chandler finds out that he does really have that much in common with Eddie after all.

乔伊带朋友们参观他的新住处，新房子（不幸）是由他亲自设计装修的。
一家小型唱片公司和菲比签约，给“臭臭猫”制作了MTV。
但唱片公司瞒着菲比找了一个其貌不扬但具歌唱实力的女人为她配唱。

莫妮卡因罗斯总是在她们的公寓进进出出而同他发生争吵，兄妹嘛，谁家不是这样吵吵闹闹的。

钱德和乔伊彼此思念，但双方都羞于承认。
钱德找了个新室友艾迪，此人看来不错。
乔伊吃醋，和钱德像小两口一样争吵。
钱德发现他和艾迪性格不合，缺乏共同爱好。

臭臭猫

故事梗概

Phoebe的演唱天赋终于被一家唱片公司发现，今Phoebe没有想到的是唱片公司打算马上为Phoebe录制MTV.
很快， Phoebe的作品SmelLy Cat(臭臭猫》)就面世了．制作的场面非常的dramatic．
Phoebe的造型也特别“帅”！但是，很明显，声音不是Phoebe的．而是配音(dubbed voice)。

Phoebe自己从来没有“听过”自己的歌声，因而，还不知道公司做了手脚，她不无得意的说：
Oh，I am sorry，but I am incredibly talented．不过，聪明的Phoebe还是很快就发现了事实的真相，
知道了有个voice woman：而Smelly Cat这首歌也的确很受大家的喜爱……

PHOEBE: [singing] Smelly cat, smell-ly cat, what are they feeding you? Everybody.

ALL: Smelly cat, smell-ly cat, it's not your fault.

PHOEBE: Monica.

MONICA: [sings] They won't take you to the vet.

PHOEBE: Chandler.

CHANDLER: [reluctantly sings] You're obviously not their favorite pet.

MONICA: Joey.

JOEY: [sings] It may not be a bed of roses.

PHOEBE: Rachel.

RACHEL: [sings] And you're no friend to those with noses.

PHOEBE: Uh, Ross, those are the only lines we have, sorry. OK, you guys, once more.

录部分选自本集结尾，大家一起陪着Phoebe来完成了这首歌，这也是笔者在整个对Friends的记忆中最深刻的一段。大家在纽约的一家叫做“Central Perk”的咖啡店(coffee shop)里陪着Phoebe Buffay完成了这首非同一般的歌曲。上面提及的正是Smelly Cat的全部歌词(1yrics)，很有深度。这首歌也是Phoebe的flagship song，旗舰歌曲、代表作。

Phoebe在得知真相后，发现那个voice woman 是个a middleaged singer，who was too old and average looking to be a serious pop star．但是，她也知道，voice woman 是那么的 talented，就是因为她相貌平平，人老珠黄，因而不得制片人(woducer)的重用，因而Phoebe突然之间大呼：“My God! That song has so many levels!”她意识到这首歌原来这么有深度!她说：I mean，it’s like，she’s like one of those animals....God,she’s smelly cat．Oh，oh that song has so many levels．Phoebe应该是有感而发吧。联想自己的身世(出生时被父母抛弃，继母自杀，继父在监狱服刑，双胞胎姐姐是个色情工作者，弟弟也是不学无术，后来

找了个比自己大几十岁的老太太结婚，她曾流落于街头，讨饭、骗钱……)，自己又何尝不曾是一只被人抛弃的Smelly Cat呢?不过，Phoebe的丰富阅历让吔早早得成熟起来，比起Joey这个永远长不大的孩子来说，真是不白活一回，阅人无数、心平气和、坚强冷静、遇事不慌、懂得珍惜、公平正直、风趣幽默、豁达开朗、古灵精怪。

再说说smelly这个词，它的意思是“臭的、难闻的、不好闻的”；having a noticeable，usually unpleasant or offensive odor．
(强烈，通常是令人不快或使人生厌的气味的)。如，“臭脚丫子”就是smelly feet；英语中，表示“臭”的单词可真多，有fetid，foul，foul-smelling，funky，malodorous，mephitic，noisome,reeky,stinking，stinky等等。

smell这个词也很实用，比如“烧焦味”就是burning smell；
“土腥味”就是eaithy smell；“鱼腥气”是fishy smell；“霉味”是mouldy／musty smell等等。

Friends这部情景喜剧看似荒诞不经，可是它还是无时不刻告诉人们什么是对的，什么是不好的。联想到前面Ross对猴子的保护，以及后来Phoebe坚决不穿fur(皮衣)等等，都在向我们传递一种信息，那就是要热爱自然，保护动物。
